Bad Line
A soundboard for calls you don't want.
Six interference sounds, generated live in the browser with the Web Audio API. No audio files:
- Choppy line – the line breaks up into robot mush, digital bursts and sudden silence
- Train crash – a train crashing at full speed: nonstop violence and crumpling sheet metal
- Space station – digital interference and a shredded alien voice
- Death metal – violent attacks of distortion with no tempo
- Hailstorm – things getting smashed and torn apart, and now and then a hurricane roar
- Construction site – hammer blows, metal on metal, a jackhammer and now and then a low drill
Tap several sounds to mix them. They shift irregularly between loud, quiet and silent, except the train crash, which never lets up. Tap a sound that is playing to stop it. Under Fake a dropped call there is a busy tone and a network error tone. They start the moment you tap them and stop as soon as you tap another sound. The About button in the top right explains everything.
The sound goes through a compressor and gain stage tuned for phone speakers, so it comes through clearly on another phone.
Languages
English and Swedish are in the same app. Switch with the flags under the title. The choice is saved, and the first time the app follows the phone's language.
Use
Open index.html in a phone browser and hold the phone with the call close to the speaker. Sound can only start after a tap.
