Local-first workspace for founder-creators: your documents and your people, with an AI that can use both. Dome is an open-source desktop app for founder-creators. Keep notes, PDFs, videos, and URLs in a local library, keep contacts and leads in People, and let Many work across both — then publish or follow up through email and social. One binary, three editions (Pro, Study, Dev). One app. Pick an edition in onboarding (or Settings → Features). See docs/product/editions.md. [README 설치·사용 부분 발췌] InstallationREADME 전문 보기 ↗

| Edition | For | Default surfaces |
|---|---|---|
| Pro (default) | Founder-creators | Library, People, Email, Social, Agents |
| Study | Learners | Library, Learn / Studio, Calendar |
| Dev | Builders | Library, GitHub, Agents |
| Documents | Projects, Notion-style editor, PDF/PPT/video viewers, URL and YouTube ingest, SQLite full-text search and text extraction |
| People | Contacts and leads with identities from email, social, and GitHub |
| Many | Dome-native agent runtime grounded in the open resource and the open person; MCP tools. Remote Many lets the iOS Companion drive that same Desktop Many through an encrypted Provider relay — Desktop never opens a port; Provider never runs agents. See docs/architecture/remote-many.md. |
| Channels | Email (IMAP) and Social (LinkedIn / Instagram / X) attached to People — not separate products |
| Study edition | Flashcards (FSRS), quizzes, Studio outputs from the library |
| Dev edition | GitHub tracking plus agents / workflows when you turn them on |
| Local-first | SQLite on disk; Ollama or your own cloud keys; Google Drive import with tokens stored locally |
Dome Desktop is one of four sister repos:
| Repo | Role |
|---|---|
| dome | This repo — Electron desktop app; Many execution plane |
| dome-provider | OAuth, AI proxy, billing, encrypted Remote Many relay |
| dome-companion | iOS companion — remote cockpit for Desktop Many |
| landing-page-dome | Public Astro site and download links |

Prerequisites: Node.js 22.13+ (pnpm 11), pnpm (corepack enable or npm install -g pnpm), macOS / Windows / Linux.
The agent runtime (@dome/agent-core, @dome/ai) and the Remote Many protocol are private packages from maxprain12/manys-kit on GitHub Packages, so pnpm install needs a token with read:packages. One-time setup (the line stores a reference to NPM_TOKEN, not the token):
echo '//npm.pkg.github.com/:_authToken=${NPM_TOKEN}' >> ~/.npmrc
export NPM_TOKEN=$(gh auth token) # or a classic PAT with read:packages
git clone https://github.com/maxprain12/dome.git
cd dome
pnpm install
cp .env.example .env.local # optional — add your API keys
pnpm run electron:dev
pnpm run dev # Vite dev server only
pnpm run electron:dev # Full dev (Vite + Electron)
pnpm run electron:build # Production build
pnpm run rebuild:natives # Rebuild native modules for the current Electron version
Go to Settings → AI Configuration and pick your provider:
| Provider | Key field | Example model |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | OPENAI_API_KEY | gpt-4o |
| Anthropic | ANTHROPIC_API_KEY | claude-sonnet-4-6 |
GOOGLE_API_KEY | gemini-1.5-pro | |
| Ollama (local) | Base URL | llama3.2 |
For OCR on scanned PDFs with Ollama, use a vision model:
llava,moondream2,minicpm-v, orglm4v.
Set in .env.local (or as GitHub secrets for CI):
DOME_GOOGLE_DRIVE_CLIENT_ID=your-client-id.apps.googleusercontent.com
DOME_GOOGLE_DRIVE_CLIENT_SECRET=GOCSPX-your-secret
See Cloud Storage Setup for the full OAuth guide.
Add in Settings → MCP:
{ "name": "fs", "type": "stdio", "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem", "/allowed/path"] }
{ "name": "remote", "type": "http", "url": "https://your-mcp-server.com/mcp" }
| Platform | Path |
|---|---|
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/dome/ |
| Windows | %APPDATA%/dome/ |
| Linux | ~/.config/dome/ |

const by defaultDesktop binaries are built with GitHub Actions on every published release:
| Platform | Formats |
|---|---|
| macOS | .dmg, .zip |
| Windows | .exe (installer + portable) |
| Linux | .AppImage (portable), .flatpak (sandboxed) |
To publish: create a version tag, draft a release, and click Publish release.
Linux install (from release assets):
# AppImage — portable, no install
chmod +x Dome-<version>.AppImage
./Dome-<version>.AppImage
# Flatpak — sandboxed, desktop integration
flatpak install --user Dome-<version>.flatpak
flatpak run com.domepro.app
AppImage and Flatpak x64 run on Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch, and other distros that support those formats.
