H.A.H.N.S
Hardware, Advisories, Highlights, & Navigation Specialist (mascot: "Hahns")
A no-install browser helper for VW technicians. It reads the repair procedure
you already have open in ELSA2GO and lists the things you need for
the job — torque specs, one-time-use parts, fluids & capacities, special tools,
and critical warnings.
It ships as a bookmarklet (just a bookmark) so there's nothing to install.
Get it / share it
Live setup page: https://flatratelabs.github.io/hahns/
Send techs that link. They open it, drag the H.A.H.N.S button to their
bookmarks bar, and they're done — nothing installs.
Shipping an update
After initial install, Hahns will check automatically for an update once a day.
Go to settings(gear icon) to manually check for updates
Changelog
What changed in each version, newest first: CHANGELOG.md.
It's also shown on the setup page (under "Current version") and pops up once in
the panel after a tech updates to a new version.
Privacy by design
- Runs entirely in your browser. No server, no network calls(except once daily update check), no analytics.
- Only reads text ELSA has already displayed to you.
- Saves no files.
Using it
- Open
https://flatratelabs.github.io/hahns in Chrome, Edge, or Safari.
- Drag the H.A.H.N.S wrench button onto your bookmarks bar.
- On any ELSA2GO procedure page, click the bookmark — the HAHNS panel appears.
- Label the job you are doing. Example, Rear Brakes
- Navigate to the Overview for Rear brakes and select the correct overview for your vehicle
- Click Scan Page
- All torque specs, replace if removed parts, special tools, and cautions will be added automatically
- Any diagrams showing numbered bolts etc... will be populated at the bottom of the panel
- You can manually edit each component populated by Hahns to any name you wish
- You can also add things to the list at the bottom of each section
- If Hahns has added something you do not wish to have or do not need, simply click the trash can to right of the component to delete it
- Navigate to any other pages you may need. I suggest going to the removal page for the job you are doing. Example Remove Rear Brake Pads
- Click scan for each page visited and it will add automatically all the info and break each section into subsections for each page
- Print will put all info into a printable document or a PDF.
