A modern MCP server that provides comprehensive file comparison, multimedia management, and developer workspace tools using Beyond Compare. Features 18 tools (13 comparison/workspace + status/help/shutdown + 2 agentic) for everything from file comparison to repository backup and workspace analysis.

Quick Start

This opens an interactive dashboard showing all available commands. Run just bootstrap to install dependencies, then just serve or just dev to start.

Installation

Prerequisites

• uv installed (RECOMMENDED)
• Python 3.12+

Quick Start

Run immediately via uvx:

Prerequisites

• Python 3.10+ (required for MCP 2.11+)
• Beyond Compare 4+ installed on your system
• Claude Desktop or compatible MCP client

Quick Install (Recommended)

For Claude Desktop users (Windows):

Or download beyondcompare-mcp.mcpb from the latest release and drag it into Claude Desktop (Settings > MCP > Install Extension). Beyond Compare will be auto-detected (or configure the path when prompted).

Configuration

The MCP server auto-detects Beyond Compare installation (including Beyond Compare 5), but you can customize via environment variables:

Sync Modes:

• mirror: Make target identical to source
• update: Copy newer files from source to target
• backup: Copy only missing files to target

Webapp dashboard (web_sota)

Fleet ports: 10840 (Vite frontend), 10841 (unified FastAPI + FastMCP gateway: REST + MCP on /mcp).

1. Start the gateway: uv run python -m beyondcompare_mcp.server --http --port 10841
2. In another shell: cd web_sota then bun run dev (bun is the fleet package manager; bun.lock committed)
3. Open http://127.0.0.1:10840 (Vite proxies /api and /mcp to the gateway).
