Open Power Design
Open-source electrical network design for industrial plants, IEC conventions, hosted on Vercel.
Early-stage: this is an independent project, not affiliated with ETAP.
Status: Phase 1 – Foundation
src/core/schema.ts – network data model (zod). Units: kV, kW/kVAr/MVA, km, ohm/km, A.src/core/library.ts – equipment library with a source tag per entry. The bundled entries are illustrative placeholders, not standard or datasheet data.src/core/topology.ts – switch-aware island detection.src/core/validate.ts – model validation (ids, references, voltage levels, sources, islands).src/core/io.ts – project JSON parse/serialize.src/app – minimal Next.js page (deployable to Vercel as-is).

Tools
- IMCC Design (
/imcc): separate design from the IMCC load list (working loads, incomer limit 1000 A, number of IMCCs from the loads). Files are identified by name (PMCC... / IMCC...); linked to the PMCC design only by the sidebar switch "Automatic PMCC feeders". Samples: public/PMCC_sample_load_list.xlsx, public/IMCC_sample_load_list.xlsx. See docs/imcc.md and OPEN_ITEMS.md.
- Transformer sizing (
/transformers): add an Excel load list named PMCC... (top of the sidebar), get the number (2 or 3) and rating of 6.6 kV transformers, the load distribution per combination, and an Excel report. Rules: docs/transformer-sizing.md. Sample file: public/PMCC_sample_load_list.xlsx.
- MCC Load List / Breaker Selection (
/mcc-load-list, sidebar): builds an Excel workbook with currents and preliminary MCCB / EDO ACB selections from the load list. Rules: docs/mcc-load-list.md.
- BOM (
/bom, sidebar): one unit BOM per unique item (type + rating) from the load list, cloned from the unit-BOM template. Rules: docs/bom.md.
Roadmap
- Foundation (this phase)
- Solver: load flow via an existing permissively-licensed solver (candidate: pandapower; verify licence and Vercel bundle limits) plus load schedule
- Single-line diagram editor
- Cable sizing / voltage drop (IEC), loading checks, motor starting
- Reports, scenarios, import/export
Deferred: fault level, power generation, protection grading (and arc flash, which depends on fault levels).
