Where are your favorite groups playing next, and how far is it from you?
Radar K-pop puts ten groups on a small 3D globe, each one drawn as chibis standing on its next tour stop. You get a countdown, the distance to you and a pastel map of the venue's neighborhood. It's a sticker book you can open every day.
Live at radar-kpop.vercel.app.
prefers-reduced-motion respected.?lang=en or ?lang=es.Tour dates are scattered across label posts, ticket sites and fan accounts. I wanted one page that says where they are next, how far that is from me and how many days are left, and that is fun enough to share.
It only uses public, official schedules and posts. It shows the next confirmed show, not where anyone is right now. Everything is at city level: no airport sightings, no tracking of people.
Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with no framework and no npm install. The globe is a canvas drawn with d3-geo, the chibis are SVG and WebP stickers in the DOM, and the city maps use MapLibre with OpenFreeMap tiles. Python scripts fetch and merge the data, and a Python build step bakes it into a single index.html. It deploys on Vercel, runs as an installable PWA with a service worker, and keeps alert subscriptions in a tiny Cloudflare Worker.
A bit more detail:
data branch (never on main), which GitHub Pages serves at cperez233.github.io/radar-kpop; the page reads it from there (dataUrl in config.js). Fresh data costs no Vercel deploys: the site only deploys when the code changes. index.html carries a fallback copy; to refresh it before pushing code: git fetch origin data && git checkout FETCH_HEAD -- . ':!vercel.json' ':!.nojekyll' ':!.gitignore' && python build.py.python build.py # builds index.html
python -m http.server 8000 # open http://localhost:8000
Test parameters: ?now=2026-10-16T12:00:00Z, ?pick=bts, ?view=sonar, ?lang=en, ?demo=alert, ?demo=video. Chibis are cut from the sticker sheets in tools/art/ with python tools/chibis_images.py.
