colophon — an agent skill

Colophon teaches coding agents to publish a directory and return one governed, versioned URL. The same SKILL.md is packaged as an open Agent Skill, a portable Agent Plugin, and native Claude Code and Codex plugins.

Install

Install through the cross-agent Skills CLI and choose the agents you use:

npx --yes skills add StrangeNoob/colophon-skill --skill colophon -g

Or install through Colophon's own CLI:

npm install -g @strangenoob/[email protected]
colophon skill install

colophon skill install detects its supported clients: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, Windsurf, Cline, and Amp. Claude Code receives the plugin; the other selected clients are handed to the cross-agent Skills CLI. That CLI uses symlinks by default and can be run again to update the installation.

Other installation routes:

• Agent Plugin clients can install this public repository directly.
• GitHub CLI 2.90 or later can install the skill with gh skill install StrangeNoob/colophon-skill colophon --agent <agent> --scope user.
• Manual installations can copy skills/colophon to ~/.agents/skills/colophon.
• Claude Code users can run claude plugin marketplace add StrangeNoob/colophon-skill, followed by claude plugin install colophon@colophon.

What it needs

Install the @strangenoob/colophon CLI and sign in:

npm install -g @strangenoob/[email protected]
colophon login

The version is pinned to the CLI this skill describes and moves with each skill release.

On a headless machine—CI, a server, or a sandbox without a browser—set an API key in COLOPHON_TOKEN. Mint one with colophon create-token --name <agent> from your own machine. See Signing in for the complete authentication flow.

What the skill teaches

• Publish a directory or one file with colophon publish <dir|file> and return its URL.
• Re-publish the same slug to update a site without changing its URL.
• Roll back to an earlier version, or make an approved draft live, with colophon make-live.
• Send a version for review with --review and read the decision, leaving approval to a person, in a workspace that requires it too.
• Publish a built single-page app with --spa and the right base path, and keep moved pages answering with a _redirects file.
• Choose between public, unlisted, password, restricted, and private visibility, and set a password without it reaching a command line.
• Say who opened a restricted or private site and how far they read, and leave the read mail to each person's own setting.
• Put a public site on the showcase only when its owner asks, and say when it will be listed.
• Export the workspace's audit log as a signed file with colophon audit export, and check one with colophon audit verify, which needs no account.
• Tell a person where single sign-on through their own identity provider is set up, and sign in again through it in a workspace that requires it.
• Publish from CI in one npx step: pinned, a fixed slug, the key in a secret.
• Find which live page said something with colophon search.
• Check colophon whoami before publishing and keep credentials out of chat.
• Explain operational failures without deleting an existing site on the user's behalf.
