Features
- Transactions: amount, date/time, income/expense, category, account, note, tags; quick add; month switch; full-text search on notes/tags; filter by category, account, tag, amount range, income/expense/transfer; clear filters in one tap.
- Transfers: move money between accounts (from/to, amount, date, note); both balances update; excluded from monthly income/expense totals; shown with a distinct style in the list.
- Categories: separate expense and income sets; editable names and colors; Chinese default categories on first launch (food, transport, shopping, housing, salary, investments, …).
- Accounts: cash, bank cards, credit cards, Alipay, WeChat Pay, etc.; balances follow transactions.

- Export CSV (spreadsheet-friendly) and JSON (full backup: transactions, categories, accounts, budgets, reminder settings).
- Import with preview, common column name detection (date, amount, category, note, …), and duplicate handling: skip duplicates / import all / overwrite.

- Statistics: monthly income, expense, and balance (vs. last month); category pie chart; 12-month trend; filter by time, account, tag; share monthly report image or export PDF.
- Budgets & reminders: monthly total + per-category budgets; 80% warning and 100% over-budget alert; configurable large-transaction threshold; gentle home nudge after days without entries.
- Appearance & language: follow system / light / dark theme; switch Chinese and English UI (Mine → Settings).
- Manual updates: Mine → Reminder settings → Check for updates (never runs on launch). Installs from Google Play use Play In-App Updates; sideloaded APKs compare against
easy-ledger-version.json on dl.etais.dev and offer a download link when a newer versionCode is published.

- Recurring entries: daily / weekly / monthly rules; due items generated when you open the app; edit, pause, or delete rules.
- Home-screen widget: this month’s income, expense, balance (green/red); tap opens the app; refreshes after you log transactions.
- Receipt photos: capture or pick from gallery when logging; photos stay on device; thumbnail, replace, delete.
- Demo data: sample transactions on first open; clear or restore from Mine → Reminder settings.

Build locally
Requires JDK 17+ and Android SDK (compileSdk 35).

Without signing secrets locally, ./gradlew :app:assembleRelease still builds an unsigned release variant; use assembleDebug for everyday sideloading.
Signing & release
GitHub Actions .github/workflows/release-apk.yml builds a signed, non-debuggable release APK when you push a semver tag vX.Y.Z that must equal versionName in app/build.gradle.kts. If required secrets are missing, the workflow fails with a clear error—it will not publish a debug APK.

Local signed release (optional): place release.keystore in the repo root (never commit) and set ANDROID_KEYSTORE_FILE, ANDROID_KEYSTORE_PASSWORD, ANDROID_KEY_ALIAS, and optionally ANDROID_KEY_PASSWORD, then ./gradlew :app:assembleRelease.
Release tags: semver only (e.g. v1.3.1); do not use date tags.
Published asset name: easy-ledger-{versionName}.apk (e.g. easy-ledger-1.3.1.apk).
When R2 upload secrets are configured, the release workflow also publishes easy-ledger-version.json to the same etai-apk bucket (CDN: https://dl.etais.dev/easy-ledger-version.json) with versionCode, versionName, apkUrl, and optional bilingual releaseNotes. Sideloaded builds use this manifest for in-app update checks.
Migrating from debug sideload builds
Earlier GitHub releases and local debug builds use applicationId com.qingjizhang.app.debug. New signed release builds use com.qingjizhang.app—Android treats them as different apps, so install does not overwrite the old one.
- In the old app: Mine → Backup, export a JSON backup and keep the file safe.
- Install the new signed release APK (
easy-ledger-*.apk).
- Open the new app and restore from that JSON backup.
- Uninstall the old debug app when you are satisfied.
Your ledger data is only in the old app’s private storage until you export and restore.

Install on a phone
- Copy
app-release.apk to the device.
- In system settings, allow your file manager or browser to install unknown apps.
- Open the APK and install. If Play Protect warns about an unknown app, choose to install anyway (self-signed, not a store build).

JSON backup
Created by “Save JSON backup” in the app; contains the full ledger. Preview before restore:
- Import skipping duplicates: dedupe by date + amount + type + note
- Import all: allow duplicate rows
- Replace existing data: wipe then restore (keep another copy first)
