Capture, annotate, beautify, then share — without leaving the selection. Built with Swift, SwiftUI/AppKit and ScreenCaptureKit. No account, cloud service or analytics; the app goes online only to check for and download updates (Sparkle).
Official v0.11.0 downloads are Developer ID signed, securely timestamped, Apple-notarized and stapled. Both app and DMG passed Gatekeeper assessment as Notarized Developer ID. This does not certify every feature or hardware/system combination.
Toolchain used for v0.11.0: Xcode 27.2 / Swift 6.4, XcodeGen 2.46.0. Source uses Swift 6 complete concurrency checking and MainActor default isolation. Minimum deployment target is macOS 14.
project.yml is the project configuration source; regenerate after configuration changes. The checked-in Xcode project is generated, not maintained separately.
Contributor / local unsigned development build
You do not need the maintainer's certificate. Override the official signing settings for your own local build:
On an Intel development machine, change arch=arm64 to arch=x86_64. An ad-hoc development build is not an official public download and may need its own screen-capture permission. Do not replace a signed installation you depend on with a differently signed build and expect its TCC authorization to transfer.
The Debug-only test host does not start capture, global shortcuts, menu UI, or the real history service. Tests use synthetic images, private pasteboards and temporary directories, not the general clipboard or user screenshots. Release ignores this test-host switch. Never install the ad-hoc test host as your normal app.
Maintainer distribution
Normal maintainer builds retain the fixed Developer ID/team/Bundle ID in project.yml; those identifiers are public, not private keys. Local builds use --timestamp=none and are not automatically notarized. Public packaging signs a separate copy with a secure timestamp and submits it to Apple:

Packaging requires the matching Developer ID identity, Xcode tools, jq, and configured asc authentication. It verifies both architectures and entitlements, notarizes/staples app and DMG, checks actual DMG/ZIP contents, and writes checksums under .build/Distribution/Sniplet-VERSION/. It refuses to overwrite an existing version directory. No private key, API credential or certificate is included in this repository.

website/src/data/release.json holds the displayed version and download URLs. website/wrangler.jsonc deploys only website/dist to the dedicated static Worker/domain. Deployment requires the maintainer's separately authorized Cloudflare login; account IDs in the configuration are not credentials.
The homepage's editable beautification sample is explicitly labeled an illustration, not a real app screenshot or a screen-reading feature. The website cannot access your screen.
Verification status
v0.11.0: 241 tests in 49 suites passed, 0 failures or skips, on Apple Silicon and macOS 27.0.1. New coverage checks which mark the style row edits (text being typed, then the selected mark, then the active tool), copying a recording into the ⌘S folder without replacing files or moving the source, keeping a copied recording while the clipboard still holds it, and placing the permission panel beside System Settings (below, above, or inside a full-screen window, always on screen). The toolbars in every tool state and the recording card were rendered offscreen in light and dark for layout review, and the new toolbar was tried by hand in a live editor on a local build. Dropping the app into System Settings from the permission panel and the recording card with a real recording (copy, drag-out, keys) were not exercised by these checks.
Earlier, v0.10.0: 234 tests in 47 suites passed, 0 failures or skips, on Apple Silicon and macOS 27.0.1. New coverage checks the welcome steps (order, resuming once after a relaunch, the permission step's next action, the relaunch wait argument), editor tips (shown in order and once each, skipped once their feature is used, reset, messages naming only bound shortcuts), tip placement (on the toolbar side away from the capture, hidden rather than covering it, kept on screen on small displays) and guide content following the bound shortcuts. The welcome, guide, tip and shortcut-sheet views were rendered offscreen for layout review; the permission relaunch, login-item registration and tips inside a live editor were not tried by hand before release.
Earlier, v0.9.1: 220 tests in 43 suites passed, 0 failures or skips, on Apple Silicon and macOS 27.0.1. New coverage checks what a click in the selection overlay picks: the hovered window in either mode, the whole display on a blank area in region mode, and nothing in window mode. The blank-area click was tried by hand on a local build before release.
Earlier, v0.9.0: 217 tests in 42 suites passed, 0 failures or skips, on Apple Silicon and macOS 27.0.1. New coverage checks the shipped updater configuration (HTTPS appcast URL, 32-byte EdDSA public key, sandboxed installer service, no forced automatic checks). The packaged app's nested Sparkle helpers are Developer ID signed with secure timestamps and the appcast signature was verified with sign_update --verify. An end-to-end in-app update can first be exercised when the next version ships.

New coverage includes styled-output transparency through PNG/TIFF encoding, background fills and padding, decoding of styles saved before backgrounds existed, never-overwrite quick-save naming and folder bookmarks, quick-save/auto-save session flows, recording geometry (display-local source rect, even encodable sizes, 4K downscale) and countdown/stop-button placement. Real screen recording, delayed capture against live menus, and the folder picker are verified manually only.
Earlier, v0.7.0: 197 tests in 35 suites passed, 0 failures or skips, on Apple Silicon and macOS 27.0.1. New coverage includes remembered-region persistence and pixel-exact re-cropping at 1x/1.5x/2x, distinct default shortcuts, history drag-out payloads and the one-time what's-new policy. Display unplug fallback for the repeated region is not separately exercised.

Actual synthetic PNG smoke covered resize, source-pixel alignment, fractional annotations, one-step undo/redo, move, clamp/cancel, style preservation and unchanged PNG bytes when changing selection hints. Unattached native scroll views reproduced the old recentering drift, then verified fixed opposite edges and pointer-matched resizing at 25% and 200% zoom. No visible window or real capture was used.
Public v0.11.0 app ZIP and DMG notarization were both Accepted; stapled tickets and Gatekeeper acceptance were verified.
Not separately certified: macOS 14 runtime, real Intel hardware, every chat/browser drop target, VoiceOver, IME edge cases, or real-device performance targets. A universal binary, passing unit tests and Apple notarization are not substitutes for these checks.
Native desktop interaction is manually tested by users; automated checks do not take over the desktop or trigger real captures.
When reporting a bug, include app version, macOS version and exact steps. Do not publish sensitive screenshots or personal logs.
Selection/editor interaction geometry, image effects and final-file drag payload patterns adapt portions of CapCap, pinned to 7dd035225eaa41e6da8a5156556a8c4dd7bd028b. The original copyright and MIT license are retained in ThirdPartyNotices.txt, included in the app bundle. CapCap's recording, scrolling capture, cloud upload and global keyboard monitoring are not part of Sniplet.
Software updates use Sparkle 2 (MIT), linked unmodified as a Swift package; its license is also in ThirdPartyNotices.txt. Sniplet's screen recording is its own ScreenCaptureKit code.
Website font licenses: Manrope and Noto Sans SC, SIL Open Font License. Fonts and artwork are served locally, not through a font CDN.
