Prerequisites: Node.js (v18 or later recommended)
Install dependencies:
npm install
Set up your environment variables:
Create a file named .env.local in the root of the project and add your Gemini API key:
GEMINI_API_KEY="YOUR_API_KEY"
You can get a key from Google AI Studio.
Run the development server:
npm run dev
The application will be available at http://localhost:3000.
npm install automatically points git at .githooks/ (core.hooksPath), so
every git push runs a local gitleaks
scan against .gitleaks.toml before anything leaves your machine — the same
scan CI runs, just earlier. Install the CLI once: brew install gitleaks
(or see the gitleaks install docs
for other platforms). A real finding blocks the push; a false positive
should be added to .gitleaks.toml's [allowlist] with a comment, not
skipped with --no-verify.
