The idea came from a post by @GianmarcoSoresi. Special thanks to comedian Gianmarco Soresi, who requested this in a tweet he reposted on his YouTube page.

data.json holds 25 billionaires, chosen as well-known donors. Each figure was read on 2026-10-25 from that person's own Forbes profile page (Forbes "real time net worth") and links back to it. Figures move daily with markets, which is why the page shows the as-of date.
The page loads data.json with fetch, so it needs a local web server (opening index.html by double-click will not work).
python -m http.server 8000
Then open http://localhost:8000.
Needs Node 18 or newer. Run it with no directory argument:
node --test
Edit data.json, a list of entries with these fields:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
id | Short stable slug, used in share links. Do not rename once published. |
name | Display name. |
netWorthUsd | Estimated net worth in USD, a positive number. |
asOf | Date the figure was checked, YYYY-MM-DD. |
sourceUrl | http or https link to the page the figure comes from. |
notes | Optional text shown under the net worth. |
Check each number against its cited source before it goes in, and update asOf when you do. The banner at the top of the page shows the oldest asOf date among valid entries. An entry with a missing field, a bad date, a non-web link, a net worth of zero or less, or a duplicate id is skipped and a warning is written to the browser console.
Do not scrape Forbes or Bloomberg, which breaks their terms. Cite them by link as human-verified sources.
The page keeps its state in the URL: ?who=ID&gift=AMOUNT&years=N&view=income|networth&amount=STEP. These names are fixed so shared links keep working.
