cd brisbane-ferry-tracker
npm install
npm run dev
The app will be available at http://localhost:5173
Create a .env.local file for local development:
VITE_GTFS_API_BASE=https://gtfsrt.api.translink.com.au/api/realtime/SEQ/
npm i -g vercel
vercel --prod
Features:
The app includes serverless functions to handle CORS for the TransLink API.
GitHub Pages serves the main branch root so that the daily-generated schedule-data/latest.json is available on a CDN:
URL: https://thebnut.github.io/brisbane-ferry-tracker/schedule-data/latest.json
It is not a deployment of the app itself. Every environment (Vercel, the custom domains, and the iOS app) fetches its schedule from this URL.
npm run build
dist folder contains the static files ready for deployment to any static hosting service.Note: Without a CORS proxy, only schedule data will be available.

CLAUDE.md just points to itThe app uses a two-stage loading approach for optimal user experience:
The app combines multiple data sources for comprehensive coverage:
Pre-processed Schedule (Primary): Daily generated schedule data hosted on GitHub Pages
Real-time GTFS-RT: Shows live ferry positions and delays (only available for actively running services)
Static GTFS Schedule (Fallback): Full timetable data processed client-side if GitHub data unavailable
The app intelligently filters ferry services to show only those traveling between your selected terminals:
Key features:
The Brisbane Ferry Tracker uses a sophisticated data pipeline to deliver real-time ferry information:
TransLink APIs → Processing → Frontend Display

For detailed architecture documentation, see app-architecture.md.
The app uses TransLink's GTFS-RT (General Transit Feed Specification - Realtime) API to fetch live ferry data. Key endpoints:
