BubbleFacts follows the song you're playing and shows short facts from Wikipedia and open music databases in game-inspired bubbles in OBS, each one checked against its source. It reads your StreamerSongList or StreamElements song requests, or the text file your music app keeps, such as Streamling or Nightbot's. The captions are written by a small AI model, and the app itself was written with an AI coding agent: see AI disclosure.
Download BubbleFacts from the website. It's free, for Mac, Windows and Linux.
Already have it? See Updating to a newer version: your settings are kept.
Some of this page is new in the 2.1 beta: following a now playing file (Streamling, Nightbot or another music app), facts the moment a song starts, and the family-friendly screening and one-click switches described below. The website's download is 2.0.1 until 2.1.0 is out. To try the beta now, download it from its release page, or choose Beta updates in Settings, under General.
The app isn't signed yet, so the first time you open it, your computer may ask you to confirm. The download page shows exactly what to click.
No coding. No Terminal. No AI setup. BubbleFacts finishes getting ready in the background, so you don't wait for it. Want to make it yours? Tell it you play your own compositions or do live learns, or add custom facts, any time in Settings. The setup guide shows every click.
When a song starts, BubbleFacts finds its Wikipedia article (or the game's or film's), and the AI writes captions only from that article. Every caption is screened: names, who did what, years, consoles, and award or chart claims must appear in the article, or it's dropped. Captions that only repeat the title and artist are dropped too. So is anything that isn't family-friendly or about the music: scandals, crime, threats, and anything that labels who a person is. That catches most mistakes, not every one (a caption can still mix up details the article does mention), so Wrong next to a fact in the app takes it off your stream, along with the song's other bubbles from the same source. Playing when you spot it? Mark it after the song, under Earlier songs, where No facts for this song and No facts for this artist are one click too. Basic facts from Wikidata and MusicBrainz, such as a song's year and album, can show first, the moment the song starts, and the AI's captions follow. With no article, or none BubbleFacts is sure about, no AI is used: those databases fill in plain facts, or your own facts show, or nothing.
BubbleFacts is developed with AI assistance. Most of the code so far was generated by Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding agent. The maintainer, Christopher Feyrer (@frolicchris), is the human in the loop: he reviews and tests every change, including on live streams, and is responsible for everything that's merged or released.
The captions on stream are written from the song's Wikipedia article by a small AI model, by default Meta's Llama 3.2 on your own computer, then screened against the article. Facts from Wikidata and MusicBrainz are fixed sentences filled in from their data, with no AI involved.
Contributions are welcome, with or without AI tools. If you use one, say so in
your pull request and add an Assisted-by: trailer to your commits. Details
are in AI_DISCLOSURE.md.
Only the newest release on your update channel (Stable or Beta) is supported; the app tells you when there's a new one. What every 2.x release keeps working, and how security problems are handled, is in SECURITY.md.
