Installation
Download the latest installer for Windows or Linux (.exe, .deb, .rpm, .flatpak) from the releases page, or use a package manager. On Linux, the CEF (Chromium) builds, such as deadlock-mod-manager-cef.flatpak, are the recommended default:
# Windows (winget)
winget install --id=Stormix.DeadlockModManager
# Ubuntu/Debian (APT) - for the CEF (Chromium) build, replace "stable main" with "stable cef"
curl -fsSL https://apt.deadlockmods.app/key.gpg | sudo tee /usr/share/keyrings/deadlock-mod-manager.gpg > /dev/null
echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/deadlock-mod-manager.gpg] https://apt.deadlockmods.app stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/deadlock-mod-manager.list
sudo apt update && sudo apt install deadlock-mod-manager
# Arch Linux (AUR)
yay -S deadlock-modmanager
# nixpkgs
nix-shell -p deadlock-mod-manager --run deadlock-mod-manager
# Nix nightly (prebuilt via the deadlock-mod-manager Cachix cache)
nix run github:deadlock-mod-manager/deadlock-mod-manager#nightly
# Gentoo (third-party ::deftera overlay)
sudo eselect repository add deftera git https://github.com/Deftera186/deftera-overlay.git
sudo emaint sync --repo deftera
sudo emerge -av games-util/deadlock-modmanager-bin
See the installation guide for platform-specific steps, CEF builds, and the development AUR package.

[!WARNING]
Linux Support - Limited
Linux support is provided on a best-effort basis. Due to a lack of contributors with Linux expertise and the maintainer's limited experience distributing software across the many Linux distributions, you may encounter packaging issues, missing dependencies, or platform-specific bugs. If you're a Linux user and want to help improve support, contributions are very welcome! Please reach out on Discord or open a PR.

Development
For development setup, project architecture, contributing guidelines, and API integration documentation, please visit:
Quick start
You need Node.js 24.8+, pnpm, Bun 1.4.2+, and Rust (stable), plus the Tauri prerequisites for your platform (Visual Studio C++ Build Tools and WebView2 on Windows, WebKitGTK and friends on Linux).
git clone https://github.com/deadlock-mod-manager/deadlock-mod-manager.git
cd deadlock-mod-manager
pnpm install
pnpm desktop:dev
The desktop app talks to the production API by default, so you don't need a local database to work on it. To run the API, web app, and other services locally, follow the development setup guide (Docker, .env, pnpm db:push).
Development with Nix (Linux only)
For Linux developers, we provide a complete Nix development environment:
# Clone and enter the project
git clone https://github.com/deadlock-mod-manager/deadlock-mod-manager.git
cd deadlock-mod-manager
# Start development shell (or use direnv for automatic loading)
nix develop
# Install dependencies and start
pnpm install
pnpm desktop:dev
The Nix environment includes everything you need: Rust, Node.js, pnpm, Docker, system libraries, and all development tools.
For detailed Nix setup instructions, see CONTRIBUTING.md.

Acknowledgments
This project was only possible thanks to the amazing open source community, especially:
Special Thanks
- GameBanana - Our primary mod source and the backbone of this application. GameBanana provides the comprehensive mod database and API that makes browsing, discovering, and downloading Deadlock mods possible. This project would not exist without their excellent platform and community-driven content.
- Jelloge/Deadlock-Rich-Presence - Discord Game Presence was only possible thanks to this project and its work mapping Deadlock console log events for rich presence.
- vpkmerge - Source 2 texture, KV3 and sound codecs used by the Mod Foundry (MIT).
- ValveResourceFormat - Source 2 resource format research the Foundry's codecs and model preview are adapted from (MIT).
- RapidRAW - A Tauri project that inspired our CI pipelines, Linux optimizations, and packaging/distribution approach. Thank you for sharing your setup and best practices.
