Read the full README ↗CAD-style editor for single-line electrical diagrams on Linux and Windows: photovoltaic systems, transformer stations and low-voltage distribution. Drawing in real millimetres with model space and sheet layouts, grid and object snap, layers, blocks with attributes and connection points, a symbol library to DIN EN 60617, and printing up to A0.
The user interface is available in English and German (Settings > Sprache / Language); the Settings menu also holds “Dark mode” (whole program and drawing area dark, easier on the eyes in the evening; also the DARK button in the status bar; printing and export stay on white paper), “Drawing area” (light or dark on its own), “Fast display”, on Linux the window system (Wayland or X11) and what to show when a drawing is opened (whole drawing, last view of the file, or sheet 1 from the origin).
License: GPL-3.0-or-later. Target system: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and 26.04 LTS (X11 and Wayland).
Snap Store (Ubuntu App Center, automatic updates):
sudo snap install electrogridy
Or as .deb package: download electrogridy_<version>_all.deb from the releases and install it:
sudo apt install ./electrogridy_<version>_all.deb
ElectroGridy then appears in the application menu and .grdy files open with a double click. Remove it with sudo apt remove electrogridy.
Windows (10 and 11, 64 bit): download ElectroGridy-<version>-setup.exe from the releases and run it. The installer is not signed, so Windows first shows “Windows protected your PC”: click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. It adds ElectroGridy to the start menu and opens .grdy files with a double click. Uninstall under Settings > Apps.
The snap keeps its own settings and symbols under ~/snap/electrogridy/.
A snap cannot register its file type with the system. Without this step the file manager treats .grdy drawings as plain text; then do not choose “always open with ElectroGridy”, as that would apply to all text files. Run once (no sudo needed):
mkdir -p ~/.local/share/mime/packages
cp /snap/electrogridy/current/usr/share/mime/packages/electrogridy.xml ~/.local/share/mime/packages/
update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime
xdg-mime default electrogridy_electrogridy.desktop application/x-electrogridy
After that a double click opens .grdy files in ElectroGridy. The .deb package does this by itself.
BMK (reference designation), TYP and WERT; PV module, inverter, wallbox and DC solar storage also have HERSTELLER (manufacturer). Shift+Enter in a value starts a new line; the attributes below move down. In projects a third library “MLD: Symbols to DIN EN 60617 (multi-line)” holds 26 symbols for circuit diagram pages: circuit breakers 1-, 1+N-, 3- and 3+N-pole and motor protection switch (with thermal and magnetic release), switch disconnectors, fuse switch disconnectors (3-pole, 4-pole with N passing through or with N fuse), RCD (summation current transformer and IΔ release), fuses, contactor and relay coils, contactor main contacts, make, break and changeover contacts, push buttons, indicator light, three-phase motor, power supply, inverter and meter with all conductors. All poles are 5 mm apart (L1, L2, L3, N, PE), on every symbol. Their roles (main function, contact) are already set. In a project the category list names the group (“SLD: …”, “MLD: …”). When you insert a symbol the next free tag is proposed (-F2 after -F1; a contact gets the last used tag).| Action | How |

Modify commands without a selection first ask for objects: select them and press Enter.
Choosing snap modes: rest on the OSNAP button at the bottom or click its small arrow, or Shift+right click on the drawing. Nearest catches any point on a line, also a sloped one, or on a circle or arc (hourglass marker). While drawing a polyline its own points snap too, so it can be closed on its start point. Perpendicular snaps the right-angle point from the last point, e.g. a wire straight onto the bus bar.
Right click on a point (no command running): Connect places a connection dot, Separate suppresses an automatic dot (shown on screen as an orange ring, not printed), Remove point deletes a bend or corner of a wire or polyline, Extend continues drawing at an end.
Object snap tracking: during a command, rest the cursor on a snap point (e.g. a connection point) until a green + appears. Moving horizontally or vertically away from it shows a dotted alignment line and the point snaps onto it, on the grid. Two acquired points give the intersection of their alignments.
Typed coordinates: during a drawing command just start typing; input goes to the Command line: 120,45 absolute, @25,0 relative to the last point, 30 length towards the cursor (ortho only). With a decimal comma separate the values with a semicolon: 12,5;7,5.

Formerly SLDGridy: until version 1.3.2 the program was called SLDGridy. Its files (*.sldg, *.sldglib, *.sldgframe) still open. On the first start ElectroGridy takes over the settings and your own symbols and templates; the .deb package replaces the sldgridy package. The snap is now called electrogridy: install it and remove the old one with sudo snap remove sldgridy; snaps keep their data apart, so copy own libraries from ~/snap/sldgridy/current/.local/share/sldgridy/library/ by hand if needed.

Lizenz: GPL-3.0-or-later. Zielsystem: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS und 26.04 LTS (X11 und Wayland).
Snap Store (Ubuntu App Center, automatische Updates):
sudo snap install electrogridy
sudo apt install ./electrogridy_<version>_all.deb
mkdir -p ~/.local/share/mime/packages
cp /snap/electrogridy/current/usr/share/mime/packages/electrogridy.xml ~/.local/share/mime/packages/
update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime
xdg-mime default electrogridy_electrogridy.desktop application/x-electrogridy

NblPEL1. Arrow and texts always lie outside the conductor, so a point coming in on the left is labelled on the left. Away from a conductor: position, direction, name. Points with the same name show each other's page and column (L1 /5.0); double-click jumps to the counterpart.-X1:3); each main function then shows its contact mirror (S 13-14 /5.2), each contact where its main function is. Project > Device list shows every tag with all its places, warns about duplicates, jumps there and renames a tag everywhere. Wires get a Cable tag (e.g. -W1) for the cable list.X2) and one of its free numbers (numbers in use are not offered), or tick PE, N or PEN instead of a number; the terminal (-X2:4, -X2:PE) goes into the wire and appears in the terminal plan. Terminals side by side on one line are labelled as a row, readable from the left: the strip left of the first one, each number right of its terminal (-X1 o1 o2 o3); a terminal on another line starts a new row with the strip.-W1 is proposed), its type (e.g. NYM-J 5x2,5) and the core of each conductor (proposed from what the conductors connect to: PE and PEN terminals get GNYE, N gets BU, the outer conductors BN, BK, GY; the line reaches a little beyond the outer conductors, the tool stays active for the next cable). The line shows the cable name at its start and the cores beside the conductors; the conductors get cable and core, so terminal plan and cable list fill in by themselves. Double-click the mark to change it. Pages have a scale (Page > Edit page, e.g. 1:5 for the enclosure layout): symbols are inserted at that scale, typed lengths and dimensions are real millimetres. Draw > Cable outlet writes where a cable goes (e.g. “Outgoing to the LV board”): click the place, enter text, size and the cable; it is placed and sized by hand like any text and appears in the cable list under “To”.@ still opens the command line. Switch off under Settings > Dimension input at the cursor.2 or 0,5), or click a reference point (e.g. the end of a known length) and show or type the new length; a line drawn 4.2 m long becomes exactly 5 m. Symbols and PV modules scale too, text heights grow along.125 for 2.5 mm on paper at 1:50.NblPEL1 eingeben.
