Prerequisites: Node.js and the gcloud CLI.
npm install (App Hosting installs with npm, so there is no Bun lockfile).env.example to .env.local and set RESEND_API_KEY (only needed for email flows).GEMINI_API_KEY; this org blocks standalone keys):
gcloud auth application-default login
gcloud config set project gen-lang-client-0987674990
npm run dev then open http://localhost:3000npm run lint (ESLint then tsc --noEmit), npm test (logic tests and the parity scripts), npm run format:check (Prettier).
firebase-applet-config.json holds the Firebase web app config (API key, auth domain, project id, reCAPTCHA site key). These are public client identifiers by design and ship in the browser bundle; Firebase access is enforced by firestore.rules and App Check, not by keeping them secret.
Push to main. Firebase App Hosting builds and deploys automatically (about 4-5 minutes). Firestore rules deploy separately via .github/workflows/deploy-firestore-rules.yml.
