After cloning the repository, install dependencies:
bun install
This will automatically set up git hooks that run formatting and linting checks before each commit.
To manually set up the git hooks later, run:
bun run prepare
Use the new.ts script to quickly scaffold a new MCP:
bun run new <name> [options]
-d, --description - Description for package.json-h, --help - Show help messageCreate a new MCP:
bun run new weather-api
Create with custom description:
bun run new weather-api --description "Weather forecast API"
cd your-mcp-name
bun install
bun run dev
That's it! The deployment workflows will automatically detect your new MCP - no manual configuration needed.
Every MCP here is served on a public hostname, and the deco runtime does not
authenticate the transport — it exposes /mcp and POST /mcp/call-tool/<id>
to anyone who can resolve the host.
New MCPs are therefore wired with withAuth out of the box:
import { withAuth } from "@decocms/mcps-shared/auth";
serve(withAuth(runtime.fetch));
AUTH_TOKEN environment variable, read at
startup — an MCP without it exits instead of serving anonymous traffic;bun run new generates a local .env with a random value, so bun run dev
works immediately;AUTH_TOKEN before the first deploy (site state
secret for kubernetes-bun, wrangler secret put for Cloudflare);createPrivateTool, never createTool.bun run check:auth enforces both rules and runs on every PR. MCPs that
predate the requirement are listed in auth-exemptions.json
— a remediation backlog, not a permanent allowlist. Adding an entry requires
reviewer sign-off.
