Mire is a terminal-based diffing and collaborative code review tool for humans and agents.
gh.Prebuilt binaries cover Apple silicon macOS and x86-64 Linux. Install the latest release with one of these:
# Shell installer, into ~/.cargo/bin
curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -LsSf https://github.com/stormlightlabs/mire/releases/latest/download/mire-installer.sh | sh
# Homebrew
brew install stormlightlabs/tap/mire
# cargo-binstall; Mire is not on crates.io
cargo binstall --git https://github.com/stormlightlabs/mire mire
Other platforms build from source, which needs Rust 1.88 or newer, Node 22 and pnpm. The binary embeds the web app, so build that first:
git clone https://github.com/stormlightlabs/mire.git
cd mire
pnpm install
pnpm --filter @stormlightlabs/mire-app build
cargo install --path crates/cli --locked
See the installation guide for updates and uninstall instructions.
Run Mire inside a Git worktree:
# Unstaged and untracked changes
mire
# Equivalent explicit form
mire diff
# Staged changes
mire diff --staged
# Changes since this branch diverged from main
mire diff main...HEAD
# One commit
mire show HEAD
# A patch file
mire patch changes.diff
# A GitHub pull request, as a patch from gh
mire patch <(gh pr diff 123)
Place repository-relative path filters after --:
mire diff main...HEAD -- src tests
Press ? in the TUI for the current keybindings. See
quick start for more information.
Capture a Git comparison in a review file, then open it:
mire review init review.json main...HEAD -- src tests
mire review review.json --watch
# Refresh without opening the TUI
mire review refresh review.json
# Report review progress without opening the TUI
mire review status review.json
A source-backed review refreshes from its recorded Git comparison. Mire keeps exact findings in place, moves only a unique content-supported match, and marks other findings stale or ambiguous. Mire assigns note identifiers and anchor fingerprints. Mutations include the review revision the caller read, so stale writes do not replace newer changes.
See Review Notes for the complete initialization, agent handoff, refresh, disposition, and export workflow.
Give the review path and Mire's bundled skill to a local agent:
mire skill path
Mire installs the bundled SKILL.md when needed and prints its path. The skill
tells the agent to inspect the compact manifest, expand only named context
within a byte limit, and apply location-based findings.
