Web UI for an Active Directory run by Samba AD domain controllers: health, replication and FSMO roles of every DC, and management of users, groups, computers and OUs

Read the full README ↗The Samba AD Manager (SADM) is a web interface for an Active Directory that is run by Samba AD domain controllers: an overview of the domain controllers and their health, and the management of user accounts, groups, computer accounts and organizational units. It is one Fastify/React server with a dashboard and API that talks to the domain controllers over the network. Nothing has to be installed on a domain controller; an optional agent in its container adds what the network does not show.
Documentation: docs/ — start with the Quick Start.
The project is a monorepo with three components:
server/backend): A Fastify API server. It measures the domain
controllers, reads and changes the directory, and keeps accounts, the last measurement of
every domain controller, the activity log and the webhooks (SQLite).server/frontend): A React SPA built with Vite and Tailwind CSS.shared): Single source of truth for TypeScript types, Zod validation
schemas and constants.Requires Node.js 22+ and a token that can read GitHub Packages (for
@stefgo/react-ui-components and @stefgo/js-template-engine) in NPM_TOKEN:
NPM_TOKEN=$(gh auth token) npm install
npm run build
npm test
npm run dev:server # backend in watch mode, http://localhost:3020 (admin/admin)
npm run dev:frontend # Vite dev server, proxies /api and /ws to the backend
Or as containers, with a Samba AD test domain of two domain controllers:
NPM_TOKEN=$(gh auth token) docker compose -f compose.dev.yaml up --build
