You hold cards, not statistics. Every card is one real movement — a kilometre at pace, five floors of stairs, ninety seconds of box breathing — and playing it means doing it. The app holds the button down for the length of the move before the card resolves.
The city posts contracts: shapes you build out of the hand you were dealt, before a deadline, sometimes while a rival races you for the same one. They settle the instant you finish them, and pay in cards as well as standing — so a good week changes what you're able to do the next one.
The catch is strain. Power and pace fray you, and fraying deals you fewer cards tomorrow. Only calm clears it. Resting isn't a virtue the game preaches — it's the move that keeps your engine running, and it's the one thing standing can't buy off.
Fourteen days. The city sets a par of 2,400, and on the last day you're placed against the six rivals on what you banked. Your deck carries over; your standing doesn't — the deck is the progression, the standing is the contest.
Standing is also the currency, which is where the tension lives: a card costs 150, three extra energy 120, a fresh hand 200. Every purchase is a bet that playing better now earns back more than it costs you at the table.
The brief allows at most ten emoji, so the ten emoji are the game. No eleventh emoji appears anywhere in the product — the favicon included. Each card asks for one of three variants, settled per card per day, so 🏃 isn't "1 km at pace" forever.

Physical (50%) — cards only resolve after the movement. The gym is a place: on-site contracts are dead until you check in.
Social (50%) — the board is what the city played and what it wants from you.
Neither half works alone, which is the actual test of a hybrid game.
Roughly a third of days, the city changes one rule: Heatwave (everything frays one harder), Tailwind (a point of energy off everything), Spotlight (contracts pay half again), Open Floor (floor work counts anywhere), Market Day (three trades), Hype Day (dares and favour count double).
npm install && npm run dev
Serves on http://localhost:3000 (set in vite.config.js). host: true is on, so it's also on your network — open it on a phone, which is what it's built for.
Designed for a phone and only a phone. On a desktop browser it renders inside a phone frame rather than stretching, because a game you play at the gym isn't a thing you use at a desk.
React 19 · Vite 5 · Tailwind 3. Frontend only. Progress persists to localStorage.
The rules live in src/game/ and are pure functions — cards, contracts, engine, trades, rapport, events, season, shop, summary — so the whole game is testable, and balanceable, without a browser.
