A simple URL shortener built with the same tech stack as the qrcodegen app: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Firebase (Auth + Firestore), CSS Modules, and Remixicon.
The lime link mark is defined in src/lib/brand.ts and shared by the app headers and social preview images. Run npm run assets:brand with Node 22.6+ to regenerate the SVG/PNG logo, SVG/ICO favicons, 192/512px app icons, maskable icon, and Apple touch icon in public/. The original logo.jpg URL is also maintained.Read the full README ↗A simple URL shortener built with the same tech stack as the qrcodegen app: Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, Firebase (Auth + Firestore), CSS Modules, and Remixicon.

/s/{slug})/l/{slug} for a short linkInstall dependencies
npm install
Firebase
.env.local (see .env.example).firebase use --add and select your project (or set .firebaserc).firebase deploy --only firestore. This uses firestore.rules and firestore.indexes.json (composite index on shortlinks: userId ASC + createdAt DESC for dashboard link history).isUsed (boolean), and optionally usedBy, usedAt for redemption.Seed coupons (optional)
The seed script uses the Firebase Admin SDK so it bypasses security rules (no sign-in). You must provide a service account key:
serviceAccountKey.json) and add it to .gitignore.GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS=./serviceAccountKey.json npm run seed-coupons
This creates 50 coupon codes in the coupons collection. Without GOOGLE_APPLICATION_CREDENTIALS, the script would get PERMISSION_DENIED because the client SDK runs unauthenticated; the Admin SDK with a service account bypasses rules.
Run
npm run dev
Open http://localhost:3000.
See .env.example. Copy it to .env.local and fill in your Firebase config.
