chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions).volumegeek folder.about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox.VolumeGeek-firefox.zip.Firefox removes temporary add-ons when it closes.
The code in this repo covers both versions. manifest.json is the Chromium manifest and manifest.firefox.json is the Firefox one. Run ./build.sh to make every package in dist/.
capture.js takes the tab's sound with tabCapture when you change it, and offscreen.js plays it through a hidden extension page. Setting a tab back to 100% with the equaliser off lets the tab go again, so it plays as normal.fx.js is added to the tab you are on when you use VolumeGeek. It sends the page's audio and video players (also ones added later and ones in same-site frames) through the same sound chain. It checks where each sound file comes from first, and leaves sound from other sites without CORS on plain player volume.chain.js is the sound chain both use: bass, mid and treble filters, the volume, then a limiter. Two meters, before and after, drive the level display.VolumeGeek has no account, no analytics and sends nothing anywhere. The sound never leaves your computer: it is changed in your browser and played straight back to you. Nothing is recorded or saved. The only things stored are the levels you set, in your browser's memory until it closes, and the sites you ticked Remember for, on your own computer.
