URL options:
?loc=earth-orbit (or europe-jupiter, earthrise, io-jupiter, saturn-rings) opens a saved location.?view=chase starts in a chase view.?autostart skips the launch screen.npm install
npm run dev # http://localhost:5173
npm run build # type-checks, then builds the static site into dist/
npm run preview # serves dist/ locally
Node 20 or newer is needed.
Import the repository in Vercel. It detects Vite, runs npm run build and serves dist/, so no settings need changing. vercel.json only adds long-lived cache headers for the textures, models and hashed assets.
The service worker precaches about 3 MB: the app shell, the ship, the star catalogue and the small Milky Way map. Planet maps are cached the first time they load, so places you have visited work offline.
The page itself is always fetched from the network when you are online, so a new deploy shows up on the next load, including in the installed app. If a new version is deployed while the game is open, the update button in the top-right toolbar glows; click it to load the new version.
